Clothing Donation

MSF took the opportunity to donate (1) tub and (6) bags full of used clothing to the Chatham-Savannah Mental Health Court program. The program helps homeless people with mental health and drug addiction problems.

MSF heard about the program through Karleen Wilson. Her daughter, Amanda Wilson, is a coordinator for the program. Participants must complete a two year program (treatment sessions, random drug screenings & community service) before graduating. The latest graduates were honored on August 29, 2012 in the Chatham-Savannah Mental Health Court.

MSF Helping In Ohio

Brent K. of Auburn, Georgia was concerned about his long-time friend, Eddie N. Even though Brent no longer lived in Ohio, he found out through Facebook that Eddie was battling brain cancer. Brent decided to contact MSF.

The Myles Singleton Foundation was able to send Eddie a $100 gift card to Wal-Mart to help out with Eddie’s basic household needs. Eddie was surprised and overjoyed that Brent and MSF cared enough to provide support. MSF wishes Eddie the best in his continuing fight against cancer.

Barrow County Back 2 School Bash

On July 30th, Barrow County Connection held their annual Back 2 School Bash. Because of your support, MSF was able to donate 13 book bags. All book bags given away were filled with school supplies which included notebook paper, pencils, pens, glue sticks, crayons, colored pencils, markers and composition notebooks.

MSF also partnered with Markus, owner of Mark & Company Barber Shop, to provide free haircuts for boys. Mark turned out to be the MVP of the event by providing haircuts well after the supplies were given out!

Community Member Birthday Surprise

MSF provided one of our community members with a very special surprise birthday gift. Crystal has not seen her family in six years. MSF put together transportation and fuel costs and brought Crystal’s mother Kathreen to see her, along with Crystal’s two children (ages 8 & 7). Despite their young ages when she was incarcerated, her children were very excited to see her.

Ms. Kathreen stated: “Thank you (MSF) for helping me visit my daughter. I wouldn’t have been able to without your help.”

Crystal expressed this was the best present she could have gotten!

MSF hopes to bring more families together in this way in the future. Thank you to everyone who participated.

PADV Thanksgiving Events

MSF partnered with New Mercies Christian Church to sponsor a Thanksgiving event for Partners Against Domestic Violence (PADV). At one location, New Mercies’ Men’s Choir performed while MSF cooked dinner. At another location, New Mercies’ performed a skit and magic show for the children and had a professional chef cook! At both locations, MSF created “What I am Thankful for” turkeys with the women and children and provided inspirational books, calendars and other material.

2013 Holiday Giving

MSF would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to everyone who participated in our 2013 Holiday Giving Mission. We accomplished so much with your generosity and support, bringing Christmas to three families and six community members: Melissa F., Crystal H., Barbara D., Angela D., Mary H. & Jennifer S.

From the Families

“This was the best Christmas since we moved to America. We thank everyone that donated, picked out our gifts, wrapped them, and anyone else that helped!” Oretha

“The gifts were wonderful. The children and I loved everything! Thank you.” Ivia

From a Gift Wrapping Party Volunteer:

“Shannon, I’ve always heard it feels good to give!! You helped me experience such a wonderful feeling when you allowed me and my daughter to help your organization by wrapping gifts. It was such a small contribution, but it felt so wonderful seeing the pictures and knowing that we helped a little. I felt such pride when you allowed me to post them on Facebook. You and your family were such a blessing to be around; thanks for sharing them with us as well. Thank you also for getting me connected with PADV. 2014 will be a great year of giving – My Wish. Please let me know the events throughout the year you are planning for your organization. I will most certainly do my best to be a part. Thank you!!” Ashley
